(Dance Structure / Movement Phrasing / Rhythm Alignment)

We are looking to find a skilled Choreography and Movement Rhythm Annotation Specialist to join our growing team.

You will annotate choreographed movement in video by segmenting performances into phrases, tagging movement types, identifying spatial formations and describing how movement aligns with musical rhythm. This supports datasets for dance analysis, movement modelling and rhythm-aware video tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Review choreographed clips and segment them into movement phrases such as introduction, build, peak, break and resolution

• Label movement type for each phrase including solo dance, partner work, group choreography, floor work or acrobatic sequences

• Tag rhythm alignment with audio, noting whether movement sits on the beat, ahead of the beat, behind the beat or intentionally breaks the pattern

• Annotate spatial formations such as lines, circles, staggered layouts or clusters and track major changes over time

• Rate movement complexity on a simple scale and highlight standout features such as lifts, spins or intricate footwork

Requirements:

• Familiarity with dance, choreography or structured movement

• Ability to perceive and describe rhythm–movement alignment

• Comfort using annotation tools to mark phrase boundaries and attach labels

Background:

• Dance training, choreography, stage direction, performance analysis or teaching

• Experience filming, editing or critiquing dance or movement content

Sample Test Task:

• Given a 60-second choreographed clip with music, segment the performance into phrases, label movement type and spatial formation for each, and describe how the choreography relates to the beat and musical structure.

Application Requirements:

• Short note explaining how you think about the relationship between movement and rhythm

• Optional past work involving dance or movement analysis

• Completed test task

Compensation

• Per minute of choreographed content analysed or per full performance piece, depending on project scope.
