(Speech and Language Variation)

We are looking to find a skilled Multilingual Speaker Variation Annotator to join our growing team.

You will annotate language usage, code-switching and style shifts in multilingual speech. These annotations support models that learn flexible language behaviour across mixed-language contexts.

Responsibilities:

• Listen to multilingual or mixed-register speech and label the active language in each segment

• Mark switch points and classify switch type such as full language switch or single-word insertion

• Tag changes in formality or register within a language (for example formal → casual)

• Document each speaker’s switching and style-shift patterns in concise notes

• Apply consistent treatment of multilingual phenomena across clips

Requirements:

• Familiarity with at least two languages at a level sufficient to identify boundaries

• Understanding of code-switching concepts and sociolinguistic variation

• Ability to use annotation tools for time-aligned segment labeling

Background:

• Linguistics, translation, bilingual education or experience living in multilingual environments

• Work with multilingual media or communities

Sample Test Task:

• Given a two-minute clip containing at least two languages, annotate language segments, mark all switch points and summarise the switching pattern.

• Completed test task

Compensation

• Per minute of multilingual audio or per project, depending on complexity.
