We are looking to find a skilled Narrative Flow and Temporal Coherence Annotation Specialist to join our growing team.
You will evaluate narrative flow, pacing and temporal coherence in edited video sequences. This includes identifying scene transitions, timing shifts, pacing changes and coherence issues. The annotations support models that learn editing structure and story continuity.
Responsibilities:
Review videos or multi-scene clips and identify all scene transitions, temporal jumps and pacing shifts
Annotate metadata including scene boundaries, pacing tempo (fast, medium, slow), abrupt versus smooth transitions, time jumps, flashbacks and montage segments
Flag sections likely to confuse an uninformed viewer such as missing context, character mismatch or unclear timeline changes
Provide concise notes summarising coherence issues and classify their severity as minor, major or critical
Distinguish intentional stylistic fragmentation from unintentional narrative incoherence
Requirements:
Strong understanding of narrative structure, editing logic and temporal storytelling
Ability to differentiate deliberate non-linear design from accidental confusion
Comfort using video navigation tools for accurate timestamping
Background:
Film editing, scriptwriting, video analysis, continuity supervision or storyboarding
Experience critiquing video edits with focus on pacing, transitions and story flow
Sample Test Task:
Given a 4-minute short film with multiple scenes and time jumps, annotate all scene transitions, pacing rhythm, temporal shifts and coherence breaks, and assign severity tags with notes.
Application Requirements:
Short note explaining what temporal coherence means in video editing
Optional past editing review, script notes or narrative critique
Completed test task
Compensation
Per video analysed or hourly depending on project length and queue.
